First Time?

We know, it can be a little unnerving to step into a new place, especially when you're not exactly sure about the details that matter to you! Here, we've compiled the answers to some frequently asked questions about The Journey--questions which may address issues important to you. And, if you don't find what you're looking for here, please contact us via email or phone, and someone will get back to you as quickly as possible!

  • What should I wear?

At The Journey, you're welcome to wear whatever you'd like. You'll see people in shorts and flip-flops sitting next to people with tan pants and dress shirts, and anything in between. There is no dress code, although the attire is more on the casual side.  Just be you.

  • What does the church look like?

The Journey is comfortable. Imagine going to church at your local coffee house. You'll also see the setup for a band on stage, a projector for the multi-media presentations, and a snack area with coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. We intentionally serve only the best quality coffee products.

  • What will the service be like?

Service is specifically designed to last exactly one hour; this is the most important hour of your week. We generally do a few things each week. We will sing a few songs together led by a band, we will tell you about important activities and events, and there is a short time of teaching, in which we always strive to provide people with resources to face today's tough problems and issues. Our messages are Biblical, relevant, and real. The first weekend of the month we also partake of communion. This is where we reflect on what God has been saying, what we are learning, and where we consider what we should do about it.

Please note: we go to great lengths to ensure that you will not be embarrassed. As our guest, we won't ask you to stand while everyone else sits, etc.; we will welcome you, but will not single you out in any fashion.

  • Will I be asked to sign anything, say anything, or be singled out in any way?

No. We do not ask you to sign anything, although you are certainly welcome to address us with your own questions, via person-to-person contact or by filling out an info card. We highly recommend filling out an info card. This not only let's us know you visited, but is a great way for you to contact us or ask us questions. But none of this is "required" or pushed on you.

  • What about my kids?

At The Journey, we are actively taking measures to ensure that your child has a good, enjoyable church experience. Our goal is for your children to learn and grow at their own level. For now, children join the adults for worship and then go downstairs where they have their own teaching, snack and a time to play games and fellowship. Our goal is to ultimately have our own kids worship band and to have a volunteer base large enough to allow us to do fun field trips to theme parks and children's camp, etc.

Please Note: All of our staff and volunteers go through an application process, background check, and interview process to maximize the safety of our children. We take our children's safety very seriously and for this reason, The Journey has a Sign-In/Sign-Out Policy which ensures that no one else (only you) can pick your child up after service.

  • What kind of a church is this? Is this a Christian church?

Yes, although the place does look different from other churches, The Journey does have a definite set of beliefs (which you can check out here), similar to many other Christian churches. You can find out more about our vision and purpose here.
